We are excited to announce our annual Fall Workshop on November 12, 2024 at Cedar Hill in Waltham, MA. Thank you to the Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts for hosting us!
Registration will be from 9:30-10.
MCA will give updates from the board and Tremont Strategies Group.
Our presenter will be Emily Golinksy of Bright Moose Training:
Managing the Stress/Care Balance in Camp Leadership Roles: You’re busy taking care of everyone on camp – but what about you? Let’s dive into some of the unique challenges faced by camp leaders, including high-intensity short-term stress management, decision fatigue, and the importance of – and lack of time for – self-care. Emily believes in being a problem-solver, not just a problem announcer, so this session will be packed full of practical strategies to cultivate resilience, foster a positive self-care culture at camp (and year round!), and prioritize your own mental well-being, ultimately enhancing leadership effectiveness. Join Emily for an engaging discussion that will help you identify various elements of your stress/care balance (different from work/life balance!) and empower you to lead with clarity and compassion.
- More about Emily Golinsky, Bright Moose Training: Emily’s sessions are called “definitely not the same-old,” “fun and informative” and “not to be missed!” Following her retirement from a 15-year role as Executive Director at the therapeutically-based Camp Starfish (NH), Emily founded Bright Moose, LLC (www.brightmoosetraining.com) to provide training, consultation and PD to camps, schools, and youth organizations. Emily is Vice President for the NHCamps Association and is an active ACA, New England accreditation visitor, NCDW faculty member, and committee member. She is an education advocate for special needs youth, is a certified Mental Health First Aid instructor, and is honored to be the recipient of the Peter Kerns Award for the Advancement of Professional Development. She holds a BS (Health Psychology) and MS (Camp Administration & Leadership), and recently completed her Higher Education Teaching Certificate through Harvard. Fair warning: she is also a member of the National Sarcasm Society and an avid collector of terribly awesome puns.
After Emily’s session, we will have lunch provided and guided networking opportunities.
